17 People Were Arrested In Allegany County

Police in Allegany County, New York, were busy during the past month - 17 people were arrested for various alleged crimes. According to its official website,

"Thousands of people come each year to enjoy all four seasons in Allegany County. You will discover mostly rural countryside interspersed with individually unique villages and hamlets set in a stunning landscape with rolling hills, deep valleys, and whispering streams."

But idyllic scenery aside, crime does occur within Allegany County. Last month, there were 16 people arrested, which, compared to some other counties in Western New York, is not bad at all. The alleged crimes last month include grand larceny and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Recently, an Allegany man shot another man during an argument. New York State Troopers were called to Jones Memorial Hospital on September 8, 2025, after a 32-year-old man was admitted with a gunshot wound. Jonathan J. Johnson, 49, was implicated in the assault. He allegedly shot the victim in the leg. The incident reportedly occurred due to an argument over rap music. Johnson was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and assault, per WGRZ Channel 2.
