On this day in 1962, Jackie Robinson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Jack Roosevelt “Jackie” Robinson was an American baseball player who became the first African American to play Major League Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

Also on this day in 1993, the first black Supreme Court Judge Thurgood Marshall died.
