According to WIVB, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a new legislation to allow ice cream and other desserts made with liquor to be sold AND manufactured in New York State.

The goal is to help the state's dairy farmers, along with liquor and craft beverage producers, restaurants, among others, meet demand from consumers for innovative, new products.

Cuomo says the measure would limit the percentage of alcohol in ice cream or frozen desserts: no more than 5 percent by volume.

All products would require proper labeling and warning statements, just like they do on beer, wine, whiskey, etc.

“The craft beverage industry has experienced explosive growth in New York, and with that comes a responsibility to advance regulations that help ensure long-term viability, protect consumers and provide farmers with opportunities to increase their business,” Governor Cuomo said.

New York State is one of the best places in the entire country for craft breweries, distilleries, and wineries...now we get to enjoy ice cream with some liquor thrown in!
