Early Voting For New York’s Presidential Primary Elections Starts This Week
If you follow politics in New York State, you know that 2024 will be a very busy year on the election front. There will be at least four different voting days this year, and the first one is on its way within the next few days.
2024 is a Presidential election year, and that means it's time to select the leader of the free world. Now, what could be more important than fulfilling your civic duty and participating in the democratic to select the leaders of our local, county, state, and federal government? So let's get ready to make sure we do the most important thing we can do as Americans - vote.
The 2024 New York State Presidential Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2024, and early voting kicks off ten days before.
Early Voting In New York Is Available For The 2024 Presidential Primary Election
In 2019, then-Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature passed a series of new laws that brought early voting to New York.
This year's Early Voting Period for the Presidential Primary begins on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 9 a.m. and runs every day until Saturday, March 30th at 6 p.m.
Normally, you would be able to vote on Sunday, but since Sunday, March 31st, is Easter, all voting locations will be closed to the holiday.
In Erie County, New York, there are nearly 38 different locations where you can cast your vote and vote at any place you choose. In the City of Buffalo there will be 11 separate locations in the City of Buffalo, with the remaining 27 locations spread throughout the suburbs around Buffalo.
In Niagara County, New York, there are four different locations where you can vote, and Niagara County residents can vote at either place.

The Elections Could Use Your Help
Country election boards all over the Empire State are desperate for your help. People are needed to make sure the elections run as they're supposed to. and many are looking to hire poll workers and staff.
If you want to work the elections, you can contact your local Board of Elections. The NYS Elections website has a full list of all the local boards in New York State.
2024 Is Going To Be A Busy Year For Elections
The announcement that the special election will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, just adds another wrinkle to what is shaping up to be a very busy year for elections.
So far, the following elections are set for this year:
- Presidential Primary Election - April 2, 2024
- Congressional Special Election - April 30, 2024
- State/Local Primary Election - June 25, 2024
- General Election - November 5, 2024
