National Weather Service Says No Winter Anytime Soon In Buffalo
We're slowly but surely inching closer to holiday time and the official start of winter. Now, in Western New York, winter typically starts unofficially well before the arrival of the winter solstice.
It's not uncommon for people in the 716 to have to go trick-or-treating in their snowsuits and shovel out the driveway and sidewalk to make sure folks can get to your house for Thanksgiving. However, according to the National Weather Service, if you're on the lookout for snow or even cold temperatures, then you may need to wait a little while longer.
Don't Expect Cold Weather To Hit Buffalo Anytime Soon
Buffalo, well known for its dominance over the Golden Snowball competition, may be in serious jeopardy of losing that title as the National Weather Service warns that wintery weather is nowhere in sight for Western New York. In contrast, Denver, Colorado, and its surrounding areas have been under a winter storm warning for days, and another three feet of snow is expected to fall soon.
October brought Buffalo temperatures that were several degrees above normal, and with Lake Erie warming more than normal as well, it looks like we're going to have a relatively mild autumn, at least for the next few weeks.

With these milder temperatures and conditions on deck, we might be tempted to relax and not fully prepare for winter. However, we all should know better. If there is one thing that we can all agree on about Buffalo, it is that winter is coming, and if you stay ready, you don't need to get ready.
Enjoy the nice weather while you can, but also make sure you're prepared for the winter weather when it finally does arrive.
