No Phones For John Mulaney Show in Buffalo, New York?

John Mulaney, known for his stint as a writer on Saturday Night Live and subsequent hosting gigs, along with popular Netflix specials like “Kid Gorgeous," “New in Town,” and "The Comeback Kid," will be stopping with his John Mulaney: From Scratch tour to a packed Key Bank Center on Saturday, June 11 at 7 pm. 

John Mulaney has been a hot topic of celebrity gossip over the past few years. After a headline-grabbing intervention, a trip to rehab, and a divorce from his wife of six years, Anna Marie Tendler, Mulaney is now a father to 6-month-old baby Malcolm with his partner, actress Olivia Munn.

Several comedians, musicians, and Broadway shows have barred the use of cell phones at their shows as of late, including Madonna, Chris Rock, and Pete Davidson, to keep social media posts from spoiling the performances for fans who haven’t seen them yet. John Mulaney has now joined the pack of celebrities banning the use of cell phones from their gigs.

According to Key Bank Center’s website,

“Upon arrival at the venue, phones will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event. Guests maintain possession of their devices at all times, and can access them throughout the event only in designated Phone Use Areas within the venue. All devices will be re-secured in Yondr pouches before returning to the performance space.

 

All pouches and equipment are routinely sanitized. The Yondr staff is trained and required to follow safety guidelines and hygiene protocols to practice social distancing, minimal contact and wear required personal protective equipment.

 

Anyone seen using a device during the performance will be escorted out of the venue by security.”

Long story short, if you’re tempted to sneak a picture or a video of Mulaney’s sure-to-be hilarious set, you’d better think twice. Maybe your best bet is the "better safe than sorry" approach and just leave your phone locked in the glove box of your vehicle.
