This Is Happening For The First Time Ever On Lake Erie

The Great Lakes are a tremendous resource to the world. Covering more than 94,000 square miles and accounting for more than 21% of the world's freshwater, it's easy for us to forget how important of a resource the 5 Great Lakes are to us.

This should be especially clear to us in Western New York since Buffalo owes a chunk of its historical greatness to Lake Erie. Our special connection to Lake Erie isn't something that is unique to Buffalo, as there are at least two other cities that have a special link to it as well.

And now that's to the NFL, Lake Erie is ready to experience something that has never happened before.

All Three Lake Erie NFL Teams Are Going To The Playoffs This Year

If you have spent time in these three cities, then you know that Buffalo, Cleveland, and Detroit have a lot in common.

Besides the fact that all three cities are relatively close to each other, the trio are all considered Rust Belt cities. These great cities all experienced hard economic times starting in the 1970s as manufacturing jobs started to leave America.

The 716, 216, and 313 all have started to see a resurgence in their economies as people start to rediscover their love for these cities, and of course, we can't forget that each of these cities that share a Great Lake has amazing football teams that have finally done something that has never happened before.

The Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, and Detroit Lions are all in the playoffs at the same time.

It's hard to believe it, but it's true. Each of these teams has gone through a series of ups and downs over the years, and when one team is hot, it seems the other is not. Well, 2023 is the year for the Bills, Browns, and Lions, as Lake Erie is finally fully represented in the NFL Playoff.

Now that the playoffs are set, we're going to have to wait to see if the Super Bowl turns into the Battle for Lake Erie. In any event, it's a win for the Rust Belt.
