New Yorkers Will Now Pay More Due To Tariffs
Get ready to pay more for these items, thanks to tariffs going into effect on Wednesday. The time has come for the Trump regime's tariffs on Canada and Mexico to take place. While the administration has threatened tariffs for months now, the day has finally come. Trump set Wednesday, April 2, 2025, as the date that tariffs on our former allies would go into effect.
Democrat Senators believe this "crisis" that Trump is using to justify increasing the cost of goods for American consumers is actually manufactured by him. Sen. Tim Kaine said,
"President Trump is saying that there is an emergency with Canada. Canada is a friend not an adversary. Canada is a sovereign nation not a 51st state."

Trump declared a national emergency, claiming a fentanyl crisis caused in part by Canada and Mexico. Meanwhile, in a move dubbed hypocritical by many, the Trump regime cut $11 billion in funding for addiction and mental health care. It seems as though there is no real concern for drug addiction; Trump is simply using fentanyl as a means to bully our former allies, which will ultimately drive up prices for American consumers. It's quite confusing as to how this is a national emergency, but instead of increasing funding, he and Elon Musk are cutting addiction resources, which should be considered vital if there really is an emergency.
While Trump and his billionaire friends play power games, New Yorkers will pay more for certain goods due to the tariffs.

Trump's Tariffs Will Increase Prices For These Items
I'm sure his ardent supporters are willing to go into debt to support his power trips, but most of us working-class Americans have been struggling with increasing prices since he took office. These tariffs will not help bring prices down for families in New York.
- Cars: With tariffs on auto parts coming from Canada and Mexico, prices could increase between $4,000 and $10,000
- Fuel: 61% of oil imported into the U.S. last year came from Canada
- Alcohol: Don Julio, Patron, Casamigos, 1800, Jose Cuervo, Kahlua, Modelo and Corona are all imported from Mexico
- Maple Syrup: Canada produces 70 percent of the world's maple syrup
- Housing: Canada exports softwood lumber to the U.S., which is used for residential construction
- Avocados: 90% of avocados are imported from Mexico
There are many other products that will likely increase in price for New Yorkers due to Trump's trade war. As a New Yorker who lives very close to Canada, I hope our Canadian friends know that not all of us want or support this useless trade war.
