Ice Storm To Sweep Across New York This Week
Another major winter storm is set to sweep across New York this week and this storm will be a mix of snow, sleet, and ice.
It is going to be a weird week when it comes to the weather. It will be cold to start the week and then we will see a warm-up with temperatures over 40 degrees then as the storm comes through the area, the temperatures will drop into the teens as the storm front comes through.
The weather front will move across the area starting on Wednesday with a mix of rain and sleet before switching over to snow at night and through Friday.
According to Accuweather, we could see anywhere between 12-18 inches of snow on top of the ice/rain mix.
The ice and snow mix could cause some issues with traffic and travel. This storm comes on the heel of a "bomb cyclone" that dumped several feet of snow across New York State.
With the storm moving across the state this week, it will have an effect on Punxsutawney Phil who will predict if Winter will last long or Spring will come early.
According to tradition, if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow and returns to his hole, he has predicted six more weeks of Winter. If Phil does not see his shadow, he has predicted that Spring will come early. With a storm moving across the Northeast on Groundhog's day, the clouds could keep Phil from seeing his shadow which means an early Spring.
