On Monday Jan. 19th Women in Media from across New York State will gather in Albany, NY for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Memorial Observance Day at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 8am and the program starts at 8:45am.

Ya girl Jazzy T will be there representing Western New York, thanks to an invitation by Governor Cuomo, to deliver a message of peace and perseverance.

Other Women in Media who will present at this event include NY Lottery Host Yolanda Vega, Benita Zahn from TV 13 Albany and Time Warner Cable News Anchor JoDee Kenney.


This year’s celebration will include a special performance by Cece Peniston. Peniston’s signature
dance hit “Finally” reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and became one of the biggest dance
records in history to sell over 3 million copies worldwide.

Special memorial tributes will be paid to the late Maya Angelou and to actress Ruby Dee.


The program will be televised live statewide with the assistance of the New York State Media
Services Center, Time Warner Cable, Mid-Hudson Cable, and CUNY-TV.
