J. Cole went and put a ring on it. The rapper is officially a married man, tying the knot with his college sweetheart Melissa Heholt.

The woman who took Cole off the market is his longtime girlfriend, who met him while they were students at St. John’s University in New York. Two years ago, rumors began circulating that the couple were engaged after someone using the Twitter account for the university congratulated them on the big moment. However, the 2014 Forest Hills Drive creator never confirmed the engagement to be true.

The secret marriage was actually revealed Monday (Jan. 18), during an interview between Creed director Ryan Coogler and the MC for the #MLKNow event to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. "How did getting married change you?” Coogler asked. The question took J. Cole by surprise, since his marriage had never been publicly announced. “Oh, what is that?” the "Apparently" rhymer said, visibly shocked. “That was like one thing to not do.”

Cole quickly switched gears, directing his comments to the #MLKNow event as a whole and dapping up Coogler to let him know he did nothing wrong in asking about his nuptials.

For inquiring minds who want to know about Cole's wife, she's a wedding planner with a M.S. in childhood education. She runs Statice Events, an event planning company specializing in weddings and private events. According to the About Us page on her company site, Heholt enjoys "traveling (for business and fun), cooking, restaurant hopping, and of course shopping!"

Though its not known exactly when Cole and Heholt walked down the aisle, he did share his thoughts on marriage two years ago. "I feel like relationships are a beautiful thing, period," Cole told Hip Hop Canada. "But then marriage is just a relationship to me. In my experience, when you've been in a relationship for as long as I've been in one, there's no real difference. It's just a piece of paper that validates what was already real."

Congrats to Cole and his lady.
