Lost Deer Gets Trapped At Buffalo General Hospital
Living in the second-largest city in the Empire State can be a pretty exciting place from time to time. Having great sports teams, amazing architecture, top-notch cultural institutions, and terrific country activities means there is often no shortage of great things to do. From catching the Bills or Sabres, or knocking down a ten-point buck with a bow, Buffalo is the place to be.
However, with such great things also comes the fact that from time to time, something strange happens around town. Sometimes that means you get a half-naked woman attacking a police officer while trying to drive her car through the region's largest park. Other times, that means law enforcement has to rescue a lost deer from being trapped in one of the largest hospitals in the county.
Just writing that sentence is weird, but hey, strange things seem to happen in Buffalo.
Lost Deer Gets Trapped At Buffalo General Hospital
Monday, November 17, 2025, started just like a normal day in Western New York for people who live and work near the Buffalo Medical Campus on Buffalo's east side. Just imagine it, it's Victory Monday after a big Bills dub, the city of Buffalo is sandwiched with sunshine on a cool and brisk fall day, and somehow a deer found its way from the rural areas of Western New York to deep in the inner city of Buffalo, before it got trapped at Buffalo General Hospital.
According to WGRZ-TV, first responders from the Buffalo Fire Department and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation responded to the Buffalo General Hospital campus around 10 am on Monday to rescue that deer, which had gotten trapped inside a ground-level, below-grade window well. They had to tranquilize the deer to be able to lift it out of the window well.
The Buffalo Fire Department-Helmets & Hose Wagons Facebook page posted pictures of the trapped deer, which was later released back into the wild.
