Lil Wayne’s ‘How to Love’ Video Tells a Touching Tale of Perseverance [VIDEO]

The video for Lil Wayne‘s hit single, ‘How to Love,’ from his upcoming LP ‘Tha Carter IV,’ has dropped, and it’s a dramatic departure from the rapper’s past efforts.

In the clip for the acoustic-driven ballad, his usual gangsta talk and boastful rhymes are replaced with the touching story of a single mother whose messy childhood results in a life of prostitution and drug addiction — as well as an eventual infection with HIV.

The piece does have a happy ending, though — the mother rises above it all and sees her own daughter become a lovely and educated young woman, cementing the overall theme of persevering in the face of hardship.
