Lil Wayne Presented With Key to Lafayette [VIDEO]
Lil Wayne still has his iconic Young Money chain, but the New Orleans native was recently gifted with some new bling when he was presented with the key to the Louisiana city of Lafayette on Monday (April 18).
Just before Weezy's performance at the University of Louisiana Lafayette's Cajun Dome, Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux gave Tunechi a gold key on a long gold chain.
"We want to present to you a very special key to the city that we made specifically for you," Robideaux said. "One of a kind, nobody else has it...that's the only one in America. Thank you, sir."
“We appreciate what you and TIDAL have done on behalf of the philanthropic efforts and we’re so proud of our Ragin’ Cajuns, Alpha Phi Alpha, for what they did and we want to present to you a very special key to the city that we made specifically for you,” he continued.
The moment was live-streamed on TIDAL along with a concert from the Young Money boss. The free show was a result of a TIDAL lead initiative, Social Wave for Change, which rewards college students for their community service. This particular contest which featured more than 50 schools who donated bottled water to the Flint Water Crisis.
The Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity's donated nearly 7,000 water bottles and earned the school a free concert from Weezy.
Lil Wayne has always supported his home state. After Hurricane Katrina he donated $200,000 to repair a park in New Orleans and each Thanksgiving he gives out over 1,00 turkeys to families in need.
