Tami Roman Returns With Caught in the Act: Unfaithful and a Reminder to Pay Attention to the Red Flags

Listen, sometimes you don't need another sign. You saw the first one. You just didn't want to believe it. If this sounds like you, raise your hand!

I recently had the opportunity to interview Tami Roman, and of course, we talked about the return of MTV's Caught in the Act: Unfaithful. But what started as a conversation about the show quickly became a conversation about relationships, intuition, cheating and those red flags we sometimes see and still choose to explain away. And ladies, we talked about it.

Tami is back for another season of Caught in the Act: Unfaithful; it returned Tuesday, August 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. The series follows people who believe their partner may be cheating and are ready to find out the truth. With Tami, Coach Ken Canion, and a team of investigators helping along the way, suspicions eventually meet evidence, and then comes the hard part.

What are you going to do with the truth? That's what makes this show interesting to me. Yes, there's the investigation. Yes, there are confrontations. And yes, there will absolutely be moments that have you sitting in front of the television asking, "Now, why would you do that?"

But underneath all of that are some very real conversations. During my interview with Tami, we discussed red flags and the things women should pay attention to when something in a relationship simply doesn't feel right. Maybe their communication suddenly changes. Maybe they're becoming secretive. Maybe the stories aren't adding up. Or maybe nothing major has happened yet, but something in your spirit keeps telling you to pay attention.

We talked about intuition, too. That's a big one for me because sometimes we already know. The confirmation just hasn't arrived yet. And sometimes we spend more time trying to convince ourselves that we're overthinking than paying attention to what someone's behavior is showing us. There's a difference between being suspicious of everything and recognizing when a pattern has changed.

This season also reflects how relationships themselves continue to evolve. The new episodes explore everything from long-term partnerships to polyamory, throuples, sexual identity and couples creating their own definitions and boundaries around commitment.

But regardless of how you define your relationship, there's one thing that doesn't change: communication matters, boundaries matter and honesty matters.

Tami brings something special to Caught in the Act because she isn't just standing there waiting for the drama. If you've followed her career, you know Tami is going to ask the question. She's going to say the thing. And she's probably going to give you a look before she says it.

But there's also compassion behind it. As a producer and host of the series, she's helping people get the information they need to make decisions about their lives.

My conversation with Tami reminded me that sometimes a red flag isn't something you're supposed to paint green just because you like the person holding it.

When I say I have learned for myself.  You can love somebody and still recognize that something isn't healthy for you. You can want a relationship to work and still require honesty. And when someone's actions consistently don't match their words, eventually you have to stop listening to the promises and start paying attention to the pattern.
