Josh Allen Ties Major Buffalo Bills Team Record

In the lead-up to the 2018 NFL Draft, when Buffalo selected Joshua Patrick Allen with the 7th pick of the first round, many people around the Bills Mafia recognized the fact that Buffalo needed to bring a big-time quarterback to the team. Once Allen was drafted, many people knew he had potential, but I don't think anyone could look back over the last 7 years and predict that Josh would perform as well as he has or the record he tied while playing against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

Over the last 7 seasons, Josh has set numerous team and league records. Those include, but are far from limited to:

• Most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a single season,
• Highest passer rating in a single postseason,
• Most rushing yards by a Bills quarterback in a single game,
• Longest touchdown pass by a Bills rookie quarterback,
• First Bills quarterback with multiple 4,000 passing-yard seasons,
• Most career rushing yards by a Bills quarterback,
• Most career rushing touchdowns by a Bills quarterback,
• Most AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors,
• and countless more.

However, if you ever doubted Allen's greatness, hopefully, Josh's just done something to assuage those doubts.

In the second quarter against the Colts, Allen ran for 14 yards to score his 57th touchdown as a member of the Buffalo Bills. That score now places Allen in a second-place tie with NFL Hall of Fame Running Back OJ Simpson, the amount of rushing touchdowns by a member of the Bills.

Simpson played for the Bills from 1969 to 1977 and had an amazing career in Buffalo. Over those nine years, Simpson was in the 716, and he amassed more than 10,000 rushing yards en route to scoring those 57 scores. This, of course, does not include the 12 receiving touchdowns Simpson also had for Buffalo.

With this score, Allen now only trails another NFL Hall of Famer, Thurman Thomas.

Thomas, who played for Buffalo from 1988 to 1999, has 65 rushing touchdowns over his career in the 716.
