If you have lived in Buffalo for a while, you probably have seen the ups and downs of Jefferson Ave., from the way it was back in the 70s and 80s, to the times it was starting to be re-developed again in the late 90s and 2000s, If you drive down Jefferson now, you'll see the development of many new businesses and new apartments.

Jefferson Avenue is making a comeback like what happened on Chandler Street, Niagara Street, and in the Larkin District. There has been about $50 million in development that has been completed over the past few years or it is in the city's pipeline.

It's having a ripple effect, the changes I see are encouraging.

Jefferson Avenue was once full of retail shops, restaurants, and other community service shops. This was the place where Blacks settled in the early 1900s, Do you remember some of the famous shops and restaurants? like, Scooty's Steak House and Bells Cleaners, and Mike's lounge? These were just a few of the many popular businesses on Jefferson Ave. back in the days. The neighborhood suffered a downturn during the civil unrest of the 1960s
