SEE IT: Massive Steelhead Caught In New York State
The nice weather continues here in New York State this week. In fact, there are more mild temperatures on the way. The forecast is calling for the mercury to rise in to around 80 degrees! For those who love to fish in New York State, this could be a great week to get on the water.
If you are fishing, make sure you follow all laws and have the proper permits.
This past spring, a few friends took advantage of the good conditions that we had and hit a few of the creeks around Lake Erie. The fish they caught were decent size and a couple were over the ten pound mark. These photos show the ones that my buddy Andrew caught and one that I caught a few years ago in the same location.

From October through April, thousands of steelhead ascend New York's Lake Erie tributaries on their mission to spawn. Excellent fishing opportunities await any angler who wishes to try their hand at steelhead fishing. Between the acrobatic leaps, long drag-screaming runs and rod quaking head shakes, the fight of an early run steelhead is a truly exhilarating experience.
The fishing and hunting seasons are well underway and it is a great time to be outdoors in Western and Central New York! We are blessed to live along two Great Lakes and have so many Greta places to fish!
