Robot-Operated Coffee Shop Coming To Hamburg, NY?

When we were little, we were warned that one day robots would take over the world. These days, it certainly looks like it, as more and more jobs get replaced by them. Don't get me wrong, there are certainly some benefits to it, but at what cost?

A new robot-operated coffee shop is reportedly coming to Hamburg, NY

The Sun reports that a new coffee shop will open on Southwestern Boulevard across from Uncle Joe's Diner, unlike any other in the area. It will have coffee, and even a drive-thru to make it easier for people who want it on the go. But this one will be very different from the shop where you normally get your coffee. This one won't have any employees. Well, it won't have any human employees. According to The Sun, the coffee will be served by a robot.

Are there benefits to a robot-operated coffee shop?

Now, before we all get up in arms about how the robots are taking our jobs, there could be some upside to it. For example, as many people pointed out in the comments, they could leave it open 24 hours a day. That's something we haven't seen since COVID. Before that, coffee shops, grocery stores, diners, and more would be open all the time. Without having to worry about humans working around the clock, you could keep this shop open all the time.

You also don't have to worry about tipping the robot. It's not a human. What is it going to do with the money?

Robots cannot replace the benefits of a human though

From what I've already seen in the comments, most people are completely against this. Some people are already comparing this to vending machine coffee, which we all know is pretty gross. We don't need fewer humans working at places like this. We need humans who care about doing a good job. We need humans who know what customer service is. We don't need fewer interactions with humans. We need better interactions with humans.

There are plenty of local shops that would love to show you a great experience when it comes to getting your morning coffee.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this place if it ever gets off the ground.
