REPORT: Massive Backups On The Thruway Near Exit 57
There are reports that the right lane of the eastbound New York State Thruway (I-90E) is being closed between exit 57 (Hamburg) and exit 56 (Blasdell) for Wednesday afternoon and this could be a long term closure.
As of 1:07pm the New York State Thruway Authority has the caution listed as a "crash" between exit 57 and exit 56 around milepost 435.5.
There are major backups heading eastbound near those exits. Multiple agencies are reported to be on the scene. They're asking you to slow down and be careful as you drive through.
Some outlets are saying that the backups could be the result of a serious situation. This is a developing story. This post will be updated as more information is released.
