What Is A Heat Dome?

A "Heat Dome" is a dangerous weather condition where extreme heat lingers over a region for days and weeks. The "Dome" traps high-pressure air in one place, like the lid on a pot. These large zones of hot air result in a combination of blistering temperatures, devastating wildfires, and drought conditions.

Is a Heat Dome Coming To New York State?

The good news is that it looks like the massive heat dome that is set to move over the Midwest will not extend into New York State, but we are not out of the woods when it comes to the heat. It will be hot this week across New York State, with some parts of the state under heat advisories.
