Bomb Threat Made At Building In Downtown Buffalo
A bomb threat was made at a building in downtown Buffalo. A threat was also made at another building. On the morning of Friday, December 16, 2022, there was a huge police presence outside of the Erie County Courthouse and Old County Hall buildings.
According to WGRZ Channel 2, a person called in threats to both buildings. Delaware Avenue was blocked off downtown near West Eagle Street 10 minutes before 10 am. The Erie County District Attorney's Office confirmed a threat was made to the Erie County Courthouse but didn't give details about the threat. A spokesperson for Erie County confirmed that a bomb threat was made against the Old County Hall.
Staff was allowed back into the buildings. A person of interest was in custody, but no more details were provided.

A person is guilty of making a terroristic threat when with intent to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, influence the policy of a unit of government by intimidation or coercion, or affect the conduct of a unit of government by murder, assassination or kidnapping, he or she threatens to commit or cause to be committed a specified offense and thereby causes a reasonable expectation or fear of the imminent commission of such offense.
Also, the person making the threat can't use the defense of saying they didn't actually intend to carry out the threat. Making terroristic threats is a class D felony.
