Mayor Brown also presented a letter from Donald Trump and a check in the amount of $10,000 which Trump tweeted that he would send. And Sure enough, days later, Trump called City Hall and requested the Mayor present this gift of appreciation.

During the ceremony, Darnell said the first thing he will do with the money is hire his wife as his CEO!
He has heard from people from as far away as Japan who were inspired by his actions, but still he refuses to take all the credit. He told the crowd "behind every great man is a great team" and gave thanks to the other good Samaritans who assisted in the rescue of the young lady.
