The Inner Loop has been part of Rochester, New York since 1965.  But, over the last few years, major changes have taken place.  The loop these days is more of a "C" shape as portions of the road have been closed to make way for the Inner Loop Transformation project.

Back in 2016, the city of Rochester started to acquire land that was once part of the inner loop, in order to convert the below-grade Inner Loop highway into a  walkable residential and commercial community.  A very similar project is now in the works in Buffalo, as plans are in motion to move the Kensington Expressway underground.

Today, New York State announced the completion of '270 on East'. The newly constructed five-story apartment building features 112 affordable apartments, including 55 units that will offer support services for seniors and veterans.

New York Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado said via a press release:

Supportive housing provides a caring and supportive alternative that veterans and seniors can call home, and also receive needed services...The newly constructed supportive housing on Rochester's Inner Loop will not only provide a safe haven for veterans and seniors, but also additional affordable housing opportunities for other struggling New Yorkers.

The new '270 on East' is located near the 'Union Square Apartments' and 'Charlotte Square' on the former land of the Inner Loop, two other recently constructed facilities that have been part of the Inner Loop's transformation.

The new building includes a roof patio, multiple resident lounges, a business center, and laundry facilities on each floor.
