State of Emergency Declared In New York State
Just in case you haven't gotten your fill of wild weather in New York State, a hurricane blowing its way north in the Atlantic Ocean threatens New York with tons of rain and a heavy potential for flooding.
Meteorologists from all over the northeast have been ringing the alarm as heavy rains are expected to cause damage across the state.
Governor Hochul issued a state of emergency for the entire state of New York to help ensure the Empire State's readiness.
A large swath of New York State is either under a flood warning or a flood watch, and tornado watches are being issued in several areas of the state, including the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, North Country, and Mohawk Valley.

State officials have also deployed special water rescue teams to different areas of the state to be ready in case flood waters begin to heavily impact different regions.
With the remnants of Debby making its way across New York, I am declaring a statewide State of Emergency, and my administration stands ready to support impacted communities... State agencies have activated swift water rescue teams for impacted regions that require assistance, and it is important for New Yorkers to remain vigilant and stay off the roads.
