If you're a parent in Buffalo, who is trying to get your child ready to go back to school, you won't want to miss this backpack giveaway. It's the Third Annual Johnnie B Wiley Backpack Giveaway. The event will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Johnnie B Wiley Stadium, located at 1100 Jefferson Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14208, on the Jefferson and Dodge side, from 9 am to 1 pm.

Every student in grades kindergarten through 12 will receive one free backpack with school supplies. Students MUST be present in order to receive a bookbag. Masks must be worn by everyone, including children.

In addition to backpacks for the kids, there will be 500 Tops Friendly Markets gift cards provided to families. Conway the Machine from Griselda made that possible with a generous donation through his The Conway Cares Foundation.

The organizers are looking for volunteers and volunteer organizations to help with the event. If you or your organization is interested in volunteering, you can get registered here.

This has been one of the hardest times ever to be a teenager, so we are putting together this powerful event to provide motivation and hope for our youth. ~ Event Organizers via Eventbrite

Four speakers, Dr. Marck Abraham, Duncan Kirkwood, Detra Truehart, and Sam Radford will talk to the youth with messages of hope and motivation.

Any teens, parents, guardians, or community members who would like to attend the event should pre-register for free via Eventbrite.
