Venzella Joy started pounding on some drums at 10 years old. Then, onto playing in church, playing by ear.

In elementary school, she took Music Theory classes, and things started to get serious when she realized she had a "GIFT". Joy joined her high school's orchestra and learned how to play many different percussion instruments before moving onto college, where she played with a jazz ensemble from the school.

Back in Buffalo, she co-founded the ALL-FEMALE GOSPEL BAND "HEAVEN BOUND", which became the band for her church, The Prince of Peace Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Buffalo, under Pastor Vernal Harris and 1st Lady Evangelist Narsearry Harris, where the band is still going strong every Sunday morning. In 2009, Joy was featured on the MTV show "Making The Band" with "Diddy". Despite losing her INSPIRATION, her mom, Vet Howard, that same year...she continued to share and perfect the "GIFT" that her mom always encouraged.

Joy went to Canisius College and graduated with a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice with (ironically) a minor in Music in 2010. Later, in 2013, Joy was chosen as the performance drummer for Black Entertainment Television's (BET) program "BLACK GIRLS ROCK", where she performed with greats like Jennifer Hudson, Ledisi and Patti Labelle. This year, she also performed with Nelly on The Wendy Williams Show and Good Morning America...AND...at Michelle Obama's 50 Birthday Celebration with Beyonce...AND...actually danced with President Barack Obama himself!!!!!!

Joy designed a drummer's clinic event in 2012 called "GLAMOUR, GLITZ, & DRUMSTICKS", which took place in L.A., and also held clinics in Toronto and at Guitar Center stores in Atlanta, Ga. and Rochester.

Currently Joy was just endorsed recently by The Avedis Zildjian Company, which is the premier manufacturer of drum cymbals in the world according to Wikipedia. Joy now has her very own feature artist page on the Zildjian website.

Venzella Joy played drums for Beyonce at the White House for Michelle Obama's 50th birthday party. She will now be touring with the number-one female pop artist. Please join WBLK in congratulating Venzella Joy!
