Earl Sweatshirt Punches Fan Onstage Who Tries to Hug Him [VIDEO]
UPDATE: According to Pitchfork, a spokesperson for Earl Sweatshirt says that the fan didn't hug him but instead wrapped his arms around his face and neck. Another rep went on to say that Earl's actions was justified because he was concerned that it was an ambush and not simply a fan trying to give him a warm embrace.
Earl Sweatshirt kicked off his Ready to Leave Now tour this week in New Zealand but judging by a recent video it looks like the rapper is Ready to Fight.
During his show in Sydney, Australia, early Saturday morning (July 25), an overzealous fan jumped onstage and wanted to give Earl a hug. In the video above, the stage crasher walks behind the “Chum” rapper and wraps his arms around his neck.
This prompted Earl to deliver the swift fade right across the fan’s head. Another person, reportedly Trash Talk member Garret Stevenson, comes to Earl’s aid and tosses the fan off the stage.
Earl’s reaction is understandable and like we have said a million times before, it’s not wise to get touchy-feely with a rapper while they are performing. It will end badly for you.
In the meantime, if you want to catch Earl on his Ready to Leave Now tour, his trek will hit the U.S. beginning Aug. 8 in Los Angeles. You can peep his entire itinerary below.
