Damaging Winds and Even Snow In The Forecast for Western New York
Western New York is enjoying warm temperatures (15-20 degrees above average for this time of year) in the month of March and the forecast calls for highs in the mid-to-high 60's through Thursday of this week! It's the kind of weather that welcomes shorts and t-shirts.
However, those temperatures will drop once the weekend comes.
According to WIVB 4 Warn Weather, a cold front will push through Western New York on Friday morning, which will bring heavy, soaking rain. It will also bring heavy winds. In fact, damaging wings could be possible, with gusts 55-60+ mph on Friday afternoon.
That kind of wind gusts would most certainly bring advisories or warnings with them, so make sure you're prepared in case of stray power outages. Sunday will bring more rain showers to the area.
WGRZ reports that Monday will be cold enough for some snow showers in the region, so don't put away your gloves, sweaters, or jackets just yet. Technically, the last measurable snowfall for Buffalo is the second week of April, so we're definitely not quite out of the woods just yet when it comes to that sort of weather.
Other than a few rain showers on Wednesday, the weather is looking great through Thursday, so get out there and enjoy it while you can. Even if it's just driving around with the windows down. I can't wait until summer and we're so close to breaking free of old man winter's grips. Just got to get through the next three or four weeks of roller coaster weather.
