New York residents need to check their refrigerators. Cream cheese sold in New York is being recalled due to a potential health threat.

Several cream cheese brands are being recalled in New York. Wisconsin-based Schreiber Foods issued a voluntary recall of store-brand cream cheese spreads. The brands at the center of the recall are being sold in New York at Aldi and other major retailers. They are being recalled due to potential salmonella contamination.

"Most people who get ill from Salmonella have diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Symptoms usually begin 6 hours to 6 days after infection and last 4 to 7 days. Antibiotics are typically used only to treat people who have severe illness or who are at risk for it. Some people’s illness may be so severe that they need to be hospitalized."
