The 43rd Anniversary Juneteenth Festival of Buffalo is gearing up for June 16 and 17. Yasmin Young was on hand at City Hall for the raising of the Liberation Flag to kick off Juneteenth. Watch the video and get the schedule of Sankofa Days events here!

Liberation Flag Raising Ceremony – Juneteenth festival invites the community to come out and help open up this year’s activities.

WNY-Urban Arts Collective Inc presents a membership and open city exhibit on artwork that reflects “Going Back in our History, Fetching what is Necessary, and Returning to meet the Future”. There will also be live music from FragranceandJuan Cosmic Energy. An ADULT evening of networking, art, music and inspiration before the Juneteenth weekend.

Getting the Community Healthy: Mentally, Physically, and Spiritually. Presentations designed for youth and adults Yoga with Taminka, Healthy Life Habits with Dr Frances Ilozue, Holding on Under Pressure with Kelly Showard, Good Mental Health Strategies with Erin Ross, A Sense of Good Spirit for Everybody with Dr Maat E. L. Lewis and Marcus Garvey Science Activities with Kaleidoscope Competitions. Youth led discussion on the significance of “Wakanda” and the consciousness moment generated by the movie, Black Panther.
