Buffalo Two-Year Old, Bella Shorr, Inspires ‘Bumba Chair’ to Help Kids with Disabilities!
The Dictionary defines spina bifida as: 'a congenital defect of the spine in which part of the spinal cord and its meninges are exposed through a gap in the backbone. It often causes paralysis of the lower limbs, and sometimes mental handicap.'
Two-Year old Isabella Shorr was born with the defect but with a little creativity and 'Bella's' cooperation, her family designed a means for 'Bella' to get around since she is paralyzed from the waist down. The Solution...a Bumba Chair????? Yes, a Bumba Chair!!!!
He said, “She wasn’t able to basically move around so she was kind of stuck in whatever position we put her in. If she wanted to interact with her brothers and sister it was basically sitting in one spot.”
With that said, Bella's parents wanted Bella to not only be mobile, but independent as well and came up with an idea to make a wheelchair of sorts out of a 'Bumba Chair', and it worked.... Bella Loves It!

This amazing story does not end with Bella however; Bella and her family want to be a Blessing to as many children as possible who are afflicted with the challenge associated with spina bifida. So Bella and her parents are building more Bella's Bumba ("Wheel") Chairs and taking donations to make it possible to give them away to children challenged with spina bifida. There is a similar product for sale in some retail stores but that item retails at about $1000.00 while The Shorrs will be giving theirs away FREE!
What a Great Story!!! Congrats 'Bella' & Family!
