According to The Buffalo Challenger, the "NICYO" is hosting a celebration of Buffalo's own Rick James this weekend August 21st, and 22nd. The event will have safety in the forefront, due to some creative planning by the organization.

This is the 16th year of the annual event honoring the "King of punk-funk" Rick James, mask, and social distancing will be required at the gathering. According to The Buffalo Challenger, the event will kick off on Friday, August 21st in the parking lot of Authur's Pub at the corner of Genesse and Jefferson street. Buffalo's legendary DJ's will be providing musical entertainment.

On Saturday, August 22nd, more activities will take place at Martin Luther King Jr. park, with a youth forum featuring many guest speakers. According to The Buffalo Challenger, Marnetta Malcolm said.

The events will be strictly enforced, because we want to keep people safe. I'm encouraging everyone to come out, we to make sure that Buffalo is happy, but also that Buffalo is safe.

The "Funk Fest" is a party, this year the rally portion of it, is to help bring attention to the recent gun violents and socail unrest in our city. I always enjoyed the "Buffalo Funk Fest", the event is a great way to, not only see old freinds, but it's a meaningful celebration.
