Buffalo Funk Fest Returns for a Full Weekend of Music, Art & Culture

The Buffalo Funk Fest Foundation is bringing Buffalo Funk Fest ’26 back for a full weekend celebrating music, art, culture, community, and the history that continues to make Buffalo’s East Side special.

This year, the festival stretches across three days, August 21–23, with events happening along Jefferson Avenue before the celebration moves to MLK Park for Sunday’s finale.

And this isn’t just one concert. It’s a whole weekend. The weekend kicks off Friday, August 21, with Jefferson Ave. Friday Night Live from 5:30–9 PM, between Cherry and Virginia streets. It’s the perfect way to start the weekend, outside, on Jefferson, with the community and the music setting the tone for what’s ahead.

Funk Fest 2026

On Saturday, August 22, the celebration continues with the Jefferson Ave. Art Festival from 3–7 PM between Cherry and Virginia. Then at 7 PM, it’s time to Funk Around and Find Out with a concert right on Jefferson Avenue. Art during the day and live music into the evening? That sounds like a Saturday outside to me.

Sunday closes out the weekend at MLK Park, and they’re giving us a full day. Start with Funk and Roll from 12–4 PM, followed by the main Buffalo Funk Fest from 4–10 PM. That means music, culture, community, and plenty of funk carrying us straight into Sunday night.

Buffalo has always had its own sound, style, and cultural history, and events like Funk Fest create space to celebrate it while bringing people back together in neighborhoods that have helped shape this city. So whether you come for one day or make a weekend out of it, August 21–23 is one to put on the calendar.

One important note for Sunday: no tents or grills are permitted at MLK Park. Get your people together, get outside, and come ready to FUNK!
