Final Renderings From Broadway Market Renovation Released By New York State

Empire State Development Corporation, New York's development arm, is getting ready to break ground on a more than $40 million redevelopment of the more than 100,000 square foot Broadway Market.

While the market's current structure was built in 1956, the Broadway Market has been in existence since 1888 and has played a key role in the development of several groups of Buffalonians over the more than 135 years it's been open.

When complete, the new and improved Broadway Market will feature a total reorganization of the layout and footprint of the market, a replaced parking deck that will also double as an event hosting venue, several new vendor stalls, along with iconic lighting and a new facade.

The establishment of BMMI marks a pivotal turning point in the history of the Broadway Market. By transitioning to a dedicated non-profit model, we are working toward the market as a sustainable engine for local entrepreneurship and a vibrant gathering place. This project honors the market’s deep roots on Buffalo’s East Side, while modernizing the space to serve a new generation of shoppers and vendors.
