Target To Close All Stores In New York State
Target will be closing all of its stores in New York. Target has been suffering financially after dropping its 'Diversity Equity and Inclusion' initiatives after the Trump regime took office. Foot traffic has delined each week since a major boycott was announced. Many people who were regular Target shoppers vowed not to step foot in the reatil giant again. While it was not a surprise that some companies, like John Deere or Walmart dropperd their DEI efforts, Target shocked its base. The company had built a reputation for supporting black, minority, and women owned businesses, along with the LGBTQ community.
According to Forbes, Target’s foot traffic has declined for the eigth week. In addition, its stock hit a 52 week low due to concerns over Trump’s tariffs. The economy is tanking compared to where it was at the end of 2024, so Target is really feeling the pain on top of the blow back from canceling its DEI efforts.
