The Bills Playoff and Division Odds If They Lose to the Patriots Tonight
In case you haven't heard, the Buffalo Bills play a huge game against the New England Patriots tonight at Highmark Stadium. It's the first Monday Night Football game in Orchard Park since 2018, and just the third since 2008.
The matchups between both teams are a big storyline, but the weather is an even bigger one. Winds of 25-35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected for the game, which would wreak havoc on the passing and kicking games.
The game wraps up week 13 and if you haven't seen the AFC standings, it's a complete log jam of teams at the moment.
The Miami Dolphins won on Sunday, which puts them at 6-7 and 13th in the conference -- just 2 1/2 games back of the number one seed in the entire AFC. Just two games separates the 12th-seed Denver Broncos and the 1-seed New England Patriots. It's the craziest year for playoff standings in memory.
So, what are the Bills odds if they win or lose to New England tonight?
According to the NY Times odds, vis Joe DiBiase of WGR radio in Buffalo, the Bills odds for the 1-seed, division and playoffs increase dramatically if they beat New England.
The Bills chances at the number one seed basically go out the window with a loss, and the playoffs will not go through Orchard Park. They will also just have a 28 percent chance to win the division and actually have a 22 percent chance to miss the postseason entirely.
If the Bills win tonight against the Patriots, and they beat the New York Jets at home to close out the regular season schedule, the Bills hold the tiebreaker against New England and that means they will almost certainly win the AFC East. The Patriots would have to win out, essentially, and puts less significance on the second meeting in Foxborough.
It's a gigantic game for the Bills and the Patriots tonight.
