Is This Really The Best BBQ Joint In New York?
One restaurant has been named the best BBQ joint in New York State. Do you agree? As we approach the summer months, BBQ cravings ramp back up. Some people are blessed to have a pitmaster in their family or are a pit boss themselves. But others have to rely on the skills of strangers to get a good, solid plate of BBQ.
When it comes to BBQ, New York may not be at the top of the list. States like Texas, the Carolinas, Kansas, and Memphis have their own distinct types of sauces. According to KitchenFiftySeven.com, these states have the most BBQ joints,
"Tennessee, with over 1,300 BBQ restaurants statewide. Missouri, with over 1,200 BBQ restaurants statewide. Texas, with over 1,100 BBQ restaurants statewide. North Carolina, with over 900 BBQ restaurants statewide. South Carolina, with over 800 BBQ restaurants statewide."

One BBQ Restaurant Named Top Spot In New York State
LoveFood has put together a list of the best BBQ spots in each state. As we kick off summer in about 20 or so days and New Yorkers get cravings for char-grilled meat, you may want to plan a trip to try this restaurant. Located at 27-20 40th Ave, Astoria, NY 11101, John Brown BBQ has been named the best BBQ spot in New York State.
Based on the exterior of the building, you might not realize it's even a restaurant; nevertheless, it's the best BBQ in the state.
According to FoodLove, the restaurant has only been open since 2019. It boasts a 4.5-star rating on Google. FoodLove says,
"Opened in 2019, Long Island City's John Brown BBQ is the most recent venture from pitmaster Josh Bowen (of beloved Kansas City–style joint John Brown Smokehouse, which sadly had to close due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic). It has a similar menu – pulled pork, pork belly, rib tips, brisket, burnt ends, and cured pastrami – but the meats are said to be richer, thanks to a new smoker."
