I'm so fascinated by what Buffalo and Western New York looked like back in the day. Maybe it's 50 years ago, but it can be just 10-15 years ago.

Old restaurants are one of my favorite parts of reliving nostalgia and one of the favorite stops for Buffalonians was a place on Genesee St. in Cheektowaga.

Remember Beef & Sirloin?

The place was famous for its burgers, beef on weck, fries, and huge ice cream cones that would keep people coming back week after week.

It seems as if Beef & Sirloin was very popular in the 70s and 80s in Cheektowaga. However, the establishment closed by the mid-90s and there's now a generation of Western New York natives who have never been there or even heard of it.

It looks like this place was just past the Buffalo Airport on Genesee, so I'm thinking people visiting Buffalo would stop at Beef & Sirloin.

I'm not sure if anyone remembers this but I remember an Old Man River location on Niagara Falls Blvd. in North Tonawanda -- where the Tim Hortons is now, by "Bark Park" and Ellicott Creek. Perhaps I'm going crazy, but this would've been the mid-to-late-90s.

What do you remember about Beef & Sirloin? Did you spend summer days there when they were open?
