Another Retail Store Vandalized In Buffalo
Lately, a few stores in Western New York have been damaged by vandals who have been disrupting the community.
There has been a recent string of stores in Buffalo and Western New York being broken into.
Some stores had their storefronts damaged, but ultimately didn't sustain any theft. While others have had quite a bit of merchandise taken. Another beloved retail location in Buffalo has been hit by thieves and the owner and community that was impacted are left to pick up the pieces.
Black Monarchy, a retail store in the Five Points neighborhood on Buffalo's westside was vandalized over the weekend and had several items stolen.
The owner of Black Monarchy made the initial announcement on her Facebook page over the weekend.
Multiple clothing items were stolen, windows broken, the front door smashed, and some of the in-store infrastructures like mannequins were damaged. Members of the community gathered together over the weekend to help the owners of this small business clean up and assess the damage that was caused.
Crime In Buffalo Has Been Decreasing
While there has been a rise in crime lately over the last couple of months, crime in Buffalo and Western New York has decreased significantly over the last 10 years.
According to data available on the City of Buffalo Open Data Website, burglaries have decreased by more than 60%.
These trends mirror a state-wide decrease in crime in New York's major cities.
