When someone you love dies, the last thing you ever want to think is that you'll never see them again.  But are the things you see after they die signs?  Or coincidences?

Nobody wants to talk about death.  I know, it can be unsettling.  But what about what happens after that?

Everyone has a different belief system.  I'm not here to try to change that.  But sometimes after you've lost someone, you tend to notice little things that you never noticed before.  It's one of the only things that might give you a little comfort.  No one truly knows what happens after we die.  That's why we call it "having faith."

Some people believe that when people die, they send signs to tell you that they're ok.

I saw this post on Twitter today from Buffalo Bills super-fan Brother Bill that reminded me that if you keep your eyes open, you might see them too...

About a month ago I lost a very close aunt.  She passed away at the beginning of April and was a huge part of my family.  We used to go to the Outer Banks in North Carolina on vacation and she always came with us.  A vacation there without her wasn't a vacation to the Outer Banks.  She was our own resident shark-watch.  She could spot them a mile away.  As I got older I really enjoyed getting up early to watch the sunrise with her.  She could spot a dolphin every time.  It was almost like she was "one with the sea."  I will always envision her walking the beach in the place where she loved to be the most. We loved her very much.

On the day of her funeral, I got back in my truck after everything was said and done and the first song I heard was Bobby Darin's "Beyond the Sea." I don't normally listen to an oldies station so that was strange enough.  But for THAT to be the first song I heard when I got back it made me tear up a bit. It was one of those things that felt a little eerie and comforting at the same time.

Was it a coincidence?  Maybe.  But could it have been a sign that she was good?  Sure.  And if that's the way for me to help keep her with me, then so be it.  I'll keep my eyes open for those signs forever.
