Dr. James Corasanti’s defense team argued that the hit and run death of 18-year-old Alexandria Rice, who was riding her longboard when she was struck and killed last summer, was a terrible tragic death but not manslaughter. And a jury agreed. This evening, the trial’s jury reached a verdict of not guilty on all major counts after being sequestered for the last two days. Dr. Corasanti was, however, convicted of misdemeanor DWI.

Listening to local news reports and watching the discussion on Twitter, it appears as though much of Western New York is completely shocked by this verdict. How do you feel?
