A Kenmore Couple Leads New York State Troopers On Chase In Stolen Car
A Western New York couple has been arrested after leading New York State Police Troopers on a chase in a stolen vehicle. On July 18, 2022, New York State Police in Geneseo arrested the couple from Kenmore. John E. Slomka, age 38, and 33-year-old Tina M. Bredt fled from Troopers who had tried to pull them over for a traffic stop on I-390, in Livingston County. Slomka was driving a Dodge Caravan that had a stolen license plate.
Troopers were assisted by Livingston County Sheriff Deputies, who used a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle. Both suspects fled the scene on foot but were apprehended a short time later and taken into custody. The Dodge Caravan had been reported stolen in July to the Niagara Falls Police Department.
Slomka has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, and one count of Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle. Bredt was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.
Both suspects had active warrants, as well. Records show that Slomka had one active warrant and Bredt had eight active warrants in the Buffalo area. Slomka and Bredt were remanded to the Livingston County Jail, located at Four Court Street, Geneseo, NY. No future court date was mentioned.
Livingston County is located to the east of Buffalo just below Monroe County and Rochester.
