Locations To Watch The Wizard Of Oz This Weekend In Western New York
Judy Garland would have been 100 this weekend. To celebrate her birthday, movie theaters across the country are showing The Wizard of Oz on the big screen.
She will forever be remembered for her role as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz as she, along with her dog Toto tried to make their way back to Kansas.
When you think about it, the plot behind the movie was really out there. A girl's house gets lifted up by a tornado and falls on a witch in a land called Oz. It's run by a bunch of "Munchkins" and it has a long yellow-brick road that runs all the way through and leads to a wizard who can grant wishes. Pretty trippy.
Chances are, you've seen it multiple times in your life, but how many times can you say you've seen it on the big screen with real movie theater sound, and real movie theater popcorn? Plus, the version that they will be showing will have a rarely seen extended musical number.
This weekend, you can. Fathom Events is planning to show it at over 800 theaters across the country to celebrate what would have been Judy Garland's 100th birthday. They'll have two showings each day at 3pm and 7pm at each theater on Sunday 6/5) and Monday (6/6)
So where can you find it here in Western New York?
