As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Western New York, many area businesses are strongly encouraging customers to wear a mask while they are inside the stores.

The debate on mask-wearing continues and can become very heated, and one local Lancaster Walmart employee is asking for people to have patience when they shop.

I am part of a Facebook Group and I saw this post from a Walmart worker. In the post, they state that Walmart in Lancaster will start asking people if they would like a mask when they walk into the store. Walmart currently does not require customers to wear a mask while shopping. The "high encourage" it. They goe on to write asking people not to scream or give the associates a hard time over asking them about the mask. She said that they were given the directive from their corporate office and are only doing their jobs.

Whether you agree or disagree with mask-wearing you can still be a kind human. There is no need to yell at employees who are only doing as they have been instructed. Put the shoe on the other foot. Say someone yelled at you at your job for something you couldn't control and if you didn't do, you could lose your job. It wouldn't make for a great day, would it?

So if you feel the need to vent...call the Walmart customer service line at 1-800-925-6278 or send an email or heck a handwritten letter.

Again, there is no need to yell at employees who are just trying to make a living.
