The NHL is about to get very busy, as the start of free agency will begin at noon, EST on Wednesday, July 13th.

The Buffalo Sabres have a ton of cap space to use ($30 million), but chances are they will play it close to the vest and only sign role players and perhaps a goaltender, which they desperately are in need of.

The Sabres will have a few players of their own who will become free agents. including forward Cody Eakin and goaltender Dustin Tokarski, but they decided to retain one of their forwards from last season.

The Sabres have announced they have re-signed forward Vinnie Hinostroza to a one-year contract worth $1.7 million.

Hinostroza signed with the Sabres last summer as a free agent and scored 13 goals and 25 points in 63 games with Buffalo.

He started his career with the Chicago Blackhawks and later spent time with the Arizona Coyotes and Florida Panthers.

Hinostroza was a nice player for the Sabres last season. He won't be playing on the top two lines in 2022-2023, but as a third-line winger, he adds some more offensive depth and despite his size, is always active along the boards.

Hinostroza expressed a desire to return to the Sabres before the off-season and this shows that he and the Sabres are committed to running it back once again, as general manager Kevyn Adams gets the deal done less than 24 hours before free agency begins.
