There are certain events that become more than events. They become traditions. They become gathering spaces. They become part of the fabric of a city.

For Buffalo, Legacy Weekend has become exactly that.

Hosted by The River Club of Beau Fleuve and Legacy Equestrian Center, Legacy Weekend returns June 18-21 with four days of experiences designed to celebrate Black culture, community, creativity, and connection.

Over the years, I've watched Beau Fleuve continue to challenge what people think is possible in Buffalo. From music festivals and cultural experiences to creating spaces where people can network, collaborate, and celebrate, the organization has consistently found ways to bring people together while elevating our city.

Legacy Weekend is no different.

The weekend begins Thursday, June 18, with Black Art & Wine at Deco Lounge. This year's experience will celebrate Black artists and Black winemakers while featuring Sommelier Shomari Smoak. Guests will enjoy curated wine tastings and an opportunity to experience artwork connected to the Emerging Artist Initiative. It's a thoughtful way to kick off a weekend centered on culture and creativity.

Friday evening shifts the energy outdoors for the Backyard BBQ at Duende at Silo City. If you've attended before, you already know the vibe. Great music. Great food. Great people. DJ Ted Smooth and special guest DJs will provide the soundtrack as attendees gather for one of the most anticipated social events of the summer.

Saturday's Legacy Polo Match has once again proven to be one of the hottest tickets in Western New York. The event is officially sold out.

Taking place at Legacy Estates in East Amherst, the polo match combines sport, fashion, entertainment, cuisine, arts, and culture in a way that few events can. What started as a unique concept has grown into a regional attraction that draws attendees from across New York State and beyond while supporting the Beau Fleuve Music & Arts Foundation.

The weekend concludes on Sunday with the Mix It Up Challenge at Casa Azul. The event invites some of the area's favorite bartenders to compete for the title of Drink of the Summer while guests enjoy tastings, music, and a festive atmosphere to close out the weekend.

What stands out most about Legacy Weekend is not just the programming. It's the intentionality behind it. Every event creates an opportunity for people to connect, celebrate culture, support local talent, and experience Buffalo through a different lens.

As our city continues to grow, events like Legacy Weekend remind us that culture matters. Community matters. And creating spaces where people feel welcomed, seen, and celebrated matters.
