Two BPD Officers Suspended After Man Injured at Protest
Per WIVB, two Buffalo Police Department officers have been suspended without pay following a video showing them pushing an elderly man to the ground went viral on Thursday night.
In the video (which you can find at the link below), a man who appears to be elderly is pushed to the ground by Buffalo Police Department officers and hits his head, which caused bleeding. Initial reports from the BPD indicated that the man "tripped and fell" which caused the injury.
Later in the evening, the situation changed:
Buffalo Police Department Capt. Jeff Rinaldo said that internal affairs has opened an investigation into the incident, and that the investigation was ordered by the commissioner of police.
As of now the man is reportedly in stable condition at ECMC. Per WIVB he suffered a laceration and a possible concussion. You can see video of the incident at the button below, but we warn that it is graphic.
Later during the overnight, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz added further comments in regards to the incident and the potential future for the current suspended Buffalo Police officers.
