Complaints about different things are just a way of life. Especially in places like New York State, where there are a lot of people and a lot of businesses, there are always going to be situations where someone is unhappy and that will lead to a complaint.
Sometimes those complaints are run-of-the-mill sort of disagreements, and something that complaint is something more serious and needs some outside intervention.
Every year Letitia James, the New York State Attorney General, releases a list of the top consumer complaints that have been filed with her office over the previous year.
My office receives thousands of consumer complaints every year, and we take each one seriously to stop fraudsters from hurting New Yorkers... From predatory debt collection to price gouging, scammers tried to take advantage of consumers for personal gain, and we took appropriate action to stop it. As always, I urge New Yorkers to stay vigilant and to keep my office informed about potential scams, price gouging, or violations of consumer protection laws.

The New York State Office of the Attorney General's top 10 complaints amounted to more than 20,000 separate complaints that had been filed with the OAG's office.
Those complaints range from Retail Sales complaints like price gouging to complaints about Home Repair Contractors, Gas Stations, and even Internet Services.
