It looks like there will be no "traditional" Taste of Buffalo, due to coronavirus. Instead, the Taste will be virtual.

The 37th Annual Taste of Buffalo, presented by Tops Friendly Markets, has announced that the food festival will be virtual, according to a press release I received via e-mail. The Taste of Buffalo will still take place on July 11 and July 12. The virtual Taste will be held on the festival's Facebook and Instagram pages. The press release says there will be cooking demonstrations, live music, contests and more.

The new theme will be the “Taste Takeout,” where people can still enjoy restaurants that would normally be at the Taste in the safety of their own homes. Over half of the restaurants, food trucks and wineries that were slated to participate, will have specials food and drink deals for takeout.

"In Western New York and around the world, the restaurant industry has been devastated by our new reality as a result of COVID-19. We can't be together in person, so our board of directors took a leap of faith and reinvented our festival in a virtual format to support the restaurants we all love so much." ~ Erin Collins, 2020 Taste of Buffalo Chairperson via a press release
